Hi! I'm Kyrsten :)

Owner & Sole Operator of Kyrsten's Sweet Designs

The “sweets” business is the only business I’ve ever known.

I’ve been decorating cakes professionally for over 15 years!

I come from a family who loves dessert. We believe that if you eat something savory, it must be followed with sweet :)

I have always found great joy in creating pretty little works of art that (best of all) you could EAT! So when considering my career ambitions, it came naturally that I wanted to pursue my love for serving people with personalized sweets!

While most of my experience in the early years was gained from working for several small bakeries and cake shops (where I quickly discovered my knack for the fine details of cake and cookie artistry!), I also have a Bachelor’s degree in Baking & Pastry Arts which I received from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, RI

While living in Rhode Island, I also met my (now) husband :) We got married in Hershey, PA in October of 2010 and soon after, moved to Pennsylvania to settle down closer to family.

In 2012, Kyrsten's Sweet Designs was born!

My kitchen is registered and licensed through the PA Department of Agriculture, and I run the business full-time from my in-home studio in Mechanicsburg, PA.

I do all of the baking, decorating and delivering myself and only take on a few projects each weekend. This way I can guarantee:

1) Freshness  – I bake my cakes, cupcakes and cookies fresh every week from scratch, using all-natural, high quality (locally sourced, when able) ingredients.

& 2) Quality – I manage my time so that every client and every sweet project gets the appropriate amount of attention.

I believe that flavor is just as important as appearance.

I thoroughly enjoy what I do and I believe that if you love what you do, that joy overflows into your work :-)

Every event and every client is different, but the end result always has the same goal – the perfect cake that will put a smile on everyone’s face :-)

"God gives us our work, talent and skills so that through them we might worship Him. We have been called to work with excellence, integrity, and diligence, and our careers are opportunities to be on mission for Christ in the marketplace. God gives us great potential for impact on our families, churches, communities and the world through the blessing of our work." JD Greear

When I'm not in the kitchen, I'm most likely enjoying quality time with my husband Jason and our rescue pup, Abby :) We love date nights in on the weekends (Jason's an amazing chef; I'm a lucky lady!) cabin weekends away in the woods, hiking, spending time on the water (kayaking, paddle boarding) and visiting the National Parks.

I recently started a journey in flower growing, so I spend a lot of time in my garden now also! My favorite flowers from last year were ranunculus, cosmos and dahlias! :)
